Bone Set For Coyotes

Many people will use a bone at a coyote set. A bone is a natural attractant to any coyote set and in many states, it is legal to have a bleached bone at the set.

When making a bone set it is best to slightly hide or bury a bone. Sometimes hiding a bone or skull is useful when making a set. Buring the bone makes it look like another animal has hidden some food and a coyote naturally wants to investigate.

A T-bone or vertebrae off a cow, deer, or elk is good to use at a set. The log section of the vertebrae can be hammered into the ground to make it harder for a coyote to steal the bone.

Putting bait on or near a bone will make the set more attractive to the coyote. On a T-bone set, you should be able to place the bait or lure in the cavity where the spinal cord went through the bone.
